About Us.

John studied architecture at the University of Bath. He has carried out commissions in the UK, Canada, the United States and Europe. He is a director and equity owner of BLDA Architects.

He leads the BLDA specialist consultancy group which advises on party wall and rights of light matters, construction health and safety matters, town planning, and design and construction expert witness services.

Spanning a career of 35 years in private practice he has been responsible for the design and construction of many building types ranging in contract size from £35,000,000 to £50,000.

John is a member of the Academy of Experts acting as an expert in professional and construction disputes.

John is a visiting lecturer to the Masters’ programme of the School of Architecture at the University of Bath.

Gilsen is a Chartered Environmental Surveyor, member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a licensed Sustainability Assessor with the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

Gilsen acts as a Senior Specialist Consultant, advising in matters related to Daylight, Sunlight, Overshadowing, Solar Glare, Light Pollution and Rights of Light.

Gilsen has practised as a Consultant for 15 years and is Head of the Rights of Light and Daylight and Sunlight team at BLDA Consultancy.

Gilsen’s major projects include Manchester City Centre redevelopments, London Docklands, Greenwich and Central London, as well as advising the London Borough Council’s on complex planning applications.

Jonathan is a Chartered Building Surveyor, member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and an On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor.

Jonathan acts as a Senior Specialist Consultant, advising in matters related to Party Walls, Oversailing licenses, Daylight & Sunlight and Rights of Light.

Jonathan has practised as a neighbourly matters consultant for 10 years at BLDA Consultancy, and has been involved in major redevelopment projects across London.

Thomas acts as a Building Surveyor, advising in matters related to General Building Surveying, Daylight and Sunlight and Rights of Light matters.

Thomas has an RICS accredited degree and has been involved with redevelopment projects in Central London and Kensington and Chelsea.

Kwasi is a Technical Surveyor, assisting with matters related to Daylight and Sunlight and Rights of Light.

Kwasi is involved with redevelopment projects across London.
